Why he might be annoying:

His nickname was Big Poison, even though his brother Lloyd, who was nicknamed Little Poison, was taller than him.
His Big Poison nickname is a pronounciation for Big Person by Brooklyn Dodgers fans.
He batted into an unassisted triple play turned by Jimmy 'Scoops' Cooney (May 30, 1927).
He used to be a drunk player until 1938.
He had eye problems as he barely saw the ads on a wall of an outfield.
He once said that he liked to be booed on the road.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was left handed in throwing and batting.
He batted over .300 in 12 straight seasons as a Pirate (1926-1937).
He recorded a 14 game extra base-hit streak (June 6, 1927-June 20, 1927); 79 years prior to Chipper Jones matching that feat.
He and Lloyd hit a home run in one Pirates winning game, becoming the first set of brothers to do so (September 1938); 71 years before Adam and Andy LaRoche matched the feat.
He and Lloyd also combined for 5,611 hits, as they set the all-time record for most combined career hits by brothers.
He retired from his Major League playing career with a .333 batting average and 3,152 hits.
He was placed at #62 on the list of the 100 Greatest Baseball Players by The Sporting News (1999).
