Why she might be annoying:

    She described her 30s as a ‘delayed adolescence,’ brought on by marrying and divorcing at a young age.
    Her album ‘Silver Bell’ was recorded in 2000 but not released until thirteen years later, after it had been heavily bootlegged.
    She was turned down for ads for Diet Coke and Downy because her voice sounded too sad. (‘They said, ‘We don’t want people to cry about fabric softener.’’)

    She was discovered while playing in Boston coffeehouses.
