Why they might be annoying:

They originally planned to call themselves The MGM Band before settling on Shenandoah.
They were involved in a handful of lawsuits, which damaged the band's credibility.
Following the release of 'In The Vicinity Of The Heart,' three of the original members, Marty, Ralph and Stan, left the group to pursue solo careers.
They struggled to find a permanent lead singer following the departure of Marty Raybon.
They went from performing in front of commercial audiences to community centres and lounges in a matter of years.
They took a three year hiatus before resuming under a different lineup.

Why they might not be annoying:

They were originally a studio band prior to being discovered by Nashville executives.
As of 2009, Mike and Jim remain the last members from the original lineup.
Ralph returned to the group from 2004 to 2007, prior to his death.
Country music pundits said their sound provided a reasonable alternative to both Alabama and Restless Heart.
They wrote most of their own songs.
They often sang about songs that talked about life in the South and family values.
