Why Donny & Marie might be annoying:

It tried to convince us that Donny was 'a little bit rock and roll.'
One of the show's running gags involved Marie sucker punching Donny in the stomach.
The pressures from the show aggravated Donny's panic attacks and Marie's eating disorder.
The ratings dropped sharply after Donny got married.
Shortly before the ratings tanked, the Osmonds built a multi-million dollar TV studio in Utah, leaving the family with a major debt when the show was cancelled.

Why Donny & Marie might not be annoying:

It was clean, wholesome family fun.
Donny and Marie agreed to host a show only if their brothers received jobs with the production.
The show's ice-skating segments were choreographed by Olympic gold medalist Bob Paul.
