Why she might be annoying:

At 13, she lied about her age to join a speakeasy chorus line.
She refused to let her name be used in the film 'The Jolson Story.'
She married Al Jolson when she was 19 and he was 42.
A Broadway publicist accompanied her and Jolson on their honeymoon to chronicle the event for the New York Daily News.

Why she might not be annoying:

As a teen, she became the family's main breadwinner when her father became too ill to work.
The press named her the girl with the best legs in New York (1927).
In '42nd Street, she was the recipient of the famed line, 'You're going out there a youngster, but you've got to come back a star.'
She and Jolson adopted a son.
