    She had a nomadic upbringing, frequently moving around the country.
    She got her start as a jingle singer before deciding to pursue a career in country music.
    She was never able to maintain the same pedigree of success as her contemporaries in the 1980’s.
    Her recording career quietly faded into oblivion at the turn of the decade (albeit not by choice).
    Her label, MTM Records went bankrupt and she elected not to continue her singing career on another label.

    She began playing guitar at eight years old.
    She was college roommates with Janie Fricke, prior to the both of them becoming famous in their own right.
    She served as a background vocalist for the likes of Tammy Wynette and Johnny Cash, prior to making it on her own.
    She had success as a songwriter in the 1990’s, most notably LeAnn Rimes‘s second single ‘One Way Ticket (Because I Can).’
    She became a vocal coach for the singers in the years following her recording career ending abruptly.
