Canadian newspaper columnists have taken stabs at him.
He did Canadian Tire commercials for more than three years and became known as the 'Canadian Tire Guy.'
He advertises products in a 'creepy-nice' style that's a cross between Bob Vila and Ned Flanders.
He doesn't do interviews.

Why he might not be annoying:

He is described as an absolute gentleman.
The Canadian Tire products he advertises are quite handy and useful.
He keeps his beard neat.
Outside of Canadian Tire commercials, he has acted on film, television and stage.
Since Canadian Tire is under new ownership, we may not see any more ads from him.
