His nickname was 'The Toy Cannon.'
His defensive struggles at shortstop prompted his conversion to the outfield.
He broke his arm crashing into an outfield wall making a catch, which cost him the remainder of the 1966 season.
He was injury prone throughout his career.
Some baseball pundits felt he would have overtaken Hank Aaron for the NL Home Run lead, had he not played his home games at the Astrodome, where the outfield dimensions were wider (1967).
He played on four teams in a five year span after leaving the Astros.
