As a practical joke, Fred 'Gopher' Grandy, his roommate at Phillips Exeter Academy, got him named president of the Young Democrats, which ticked off Ike.
During their first date, he was short of cash and Julie had to pay.
He claims to have never heard 'Fortunate Son,' the Creedence Clearwater Revival song he inspired.
