Directed the films 'Ace Ventura: Pet Detective' (1994), 'The Nutty Professor' (1996), 'Liar Liar' (1997), 'Patch Adams' (1998), 'Dragonfly' (1998), 'Bruce Almighty' (2003), 'Evan Almighty' (2007), and 'Brian Banks' (2018)

Why he might be annoying:

His dramas have been box office flops.
'Evan Almighty' set a record for the most expensive comedy film; unfortunately, the box office receipts did not keep pace with expenses.
He said, 'I was paid $7 or $8 million for 'Evan Almighty.' I didn't want that money.'
He said about his attempts to relaunch his directing career, 'I can't tell you how many jobs I applied for where they just didn't hire me. I had left the private club, and the private club didn't want me back in.'

Why he might not be annoying:

At age 24, he became the youngest joke writer ever for Bob Hope.
When the ark from 'Evan Almighty' was dismantled, all salvageable material was donated to Habitat for Humanity.
He also arranged to plant 2,050 trees to offset the carbon emissions from the film's production.
He suffered post-concussion syndrome after a bike accident (2007), experiencing acute headaches and hypersensitivity to light and noise.
While recovering, he decided to simplify his life by selling off the bulk of his possessions and moving from a mansion to a trailer park.
He opened a homeless shelter in Charlottesville, Virginia, and a pay-what-you-can climbing gym and community center in Memphis.
He said, 'I didn't want to preach about the gap between the poor and the rich when I represented that gap.'
