John Adams described him as 'the oddest looking man in the world; he is tall, thin and slender as a reed, pale; his face is not bigger than a large apple.'
He owned slaves.
He was elected to the US Congress (1782), but did not attend due to poor health.

Why he might not be annoying:

With Delaware's delegation evenly split on independence, he rode 80 miles at night in a thunderstorm to cast the deciding vote in favor of independence (July 1-2, 1776).
He raised supplies and organized volunteers for the Continental Army.
He was depicted on the Delaware state quarter.
