    Nicknamed 'Truthful Jim'
    Manager for the New York Metropolitans (AA) (1883-84) and New York Giants (1885-91)

Why he might be annoying:

    He was one of six children.
    One of his nicknames was 'Smilin' Jeems.'
    He lost his first Major League game as a manager to the Baltimore Orioles, 3-4.
    He managed the Metropolitans to the 1884 pre-modern-era World Series and lost in three straight games to the Providence Grays.
    He failed repeat the same success as his previous two championship winning seasons when key players such as TIm Keefe and Buck Ewing left his NL team for the Player's Association's New York Giants.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He used to play cricket before switching over to baseball.
    He was the founder of New York City's first two pro baseball teams.
    He came up with the New York Giants team name.
    He managed the Giants to back-to-back NL Championship victories (1888-89).
    His .611 career winning percentage is the record for a manager in the 19th century. (And is second all-time to Joe McCarthy's .615 percentage.)
