She was typecast as the girlfriend of an already-developed major character (Steve Urkel, Theo Huxtable).
She dated Malcolm Jamal-Warner, her TV boyfriend in 'The Cosby Show.'
She initially refused treatment for her stomach cancer, a decision that cost her life.

She was an promising actress whose cancer unfortunately cut short her career and her life.
She received a NAACP image award nomination for best African-American actress in a daytime series.
She attended the Montclair School of Arts and the Broadway Dance Center.
Her father was a founding member of the group Kool and the Gang.
Because, she wanted to have children someday, which was a reason why she put off having cancer treatment.
She died before she got the chance to have a family.
