Hockey Player

The Resume

    (January 22, 1939-December 7, 1994)
    Born in Bagotville, Quebec, Canada
Birth name was Joseph Henri Jean-Claude Tremblay
Defenseman for the Montreal Canadiens (1959-72) and the Quebec Nordiques (1972-79)
#3 retired by the Quebec Nordiques (1979)
    Died in Montréal, Quebec, Canada

Why he might be annoying:

He was considered soft, as he lacked physical play in his game.
He was considered a loner by his peers.
His #3 which was retired by the Nordiques was brought back into circulation by the Avalanche, following the move to Colorado.
Some hockey pundits felt his decision to leave the Canadiens to play in the WHA hurt any chance he had to be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame.
He was drafted by the WHA's Los Angeles Sharks, but forced a trade to the Nordiques as he didn't intend to leave his home province of Quebec.

Why he might not be annoying:

He converted to a defenseman from his natural position of forward, and excelled at it.
He was a member of five Stanley Cup winning teams (1965, 1966, 1968, 1969, 1971) and one Avco Cup winning team (1977).
He was the only player to play for the Nordiques for all seven of the franchise's seasons in the WHA.
He is one of three players in NHL history to have his number retired by one of its teams, despite having not been affiliated with them during their membership in the league.
He was posthumously inducted into the inaugural class of the WHA Hall of Fame (2010).
He donated a kidney to his daughter following the end of his playing career.
