U.S. Senator

The Resume

    (September 9, 1963- )
    Born in Greenwich, Connecticut
    Middle name is Andrew
US Senator from Delaware (assumed office November 15, 2010)
County Executive of New Castle County (January 4, 2005 – November 15, 2010)
President of the New Castle County Council (January 2, 2001–January 4, 2005)
    Democrat

Why he might be annoying:

His last name is a racial pejorative.
He won his special election by beating Christine O'Donnell - a woman who flubbed the First Amendment and aired an ad saying 'I'm not a witch' (not exactly a monumental feat).
He ran in the Democrat primary uncontested, only entering the race after favorite Beau Biden declined to run.
His 2015 swearing-in ceremony became a viral video after then-Vice President Biden appeared to be flirting with Coons' daughter, who appeared uncomfortable with his whispering in her ear.
The clip has since been used by the Right as an example of Biden acting 'creepy' around young women, regularly turning up in video montages.
He publicly criticized Beto O'Rourke for saying 'Hell yes, we’re going to take your AR-15, your AK-47' at a Presidential debate, leading O'Rourke to call him 'status quo.'

Why he might not be annoying:

When he was 17, he volunteered for Ronald Reagan's presidential campaign.
He studied abroad at the University of Nairobi in Kenya during his junior year of college.
When he returned to the United States, he worked for the Coalition for the Homeless in New York.
He earned a J.D. from Yale Law School and a master's in ethics from Yale Divinity School in 1992.
He has a bipartisan friendship with Arizona Senator Jeff Flake.
He explained his opposition to O'Rourke's 'hell yes' comments as follows: 'I frankly think that that clip will be played for years at Second Amendment rallies with organizations that try to scare people by saying Democrats are coming for your guns.'
He has addressed the viral clip several times, saying both that he did not believe Biden 'acted inappropriately' and that his daughter 'did not think of it as anything.'
