Why American Association might be annoying:

It was called the 'Beer and Whiskey League,' due to its lack of limits of alcohol sales.
Ironically, it shares the same initials as Alcoholics Anonymous.
The National League got the better of it during most interleague match ups.
It basically died when players and teams were jumping ship to the National League.
It is not to be confused with an American Association minor league that folded in 1997.

Why American Association might not be annoying:

Its postseason match ups with the NL are considered to be the precursor to the modern-day World Series.
It was known for charging less for their tickets than their competitors.
Unlike the National League in its early days, it *gasp* played games on Sundays.
They had the first black player to get significant playing time in the major leagues, Fleet Walker. He played sixty-three years before Jackie Robinson.
The Cincinnati Reds, Los Angeles Dodgers, Pittsburgh Pirates and St. Louis Cardinals trace their history back to this league.
The Baltimore Orioles, Philadelphia (later Oakland) Athletics and New York Mets named themselves after old AA teams.
