The Resume

    (1967-1976)
    Located in Oakland, California
Known as the California Seals (November 1967, 1975-76), Oakland Seals (November 1967-70) and the California Golden Seals (1970-74)
    Played at Oakland/Alameda County Coliseum
    No Stanley Cup Championships
    No retired numbers
Relocated to Cleveland, Ohio and became the Cleveland Barons at the end of the 1975-76 season.

Why they might be annoying:

They were the least succesful of the 1967 expansion teams.
Their lack of fan support in their nine seasons prompted them to move to Cleveland.
They changed team names numerous times throughout their history.
They never posted a winning record throughout their history.
Their inception could be credited to the fact that the NHL wanted to place two franchises in California as a way to secure a lucrative television contract.
They were owned by Charlie Finley, who brought notoriety to the club for his garish ideas.
They traded the 1971 first overall pick to the Montreal Canadiens, who used it to select Guy Lafleur.

Why they might not be annoying:

They were the NHL's first foray into the Bay Area.
They were established with the intention of building a natural rivalry with the Los Angeles Kings (sadly, it never took off).
They were the first team to employ a teal color scheme.
They were initially rumored to be moving to Vancouver following the 1968-69 season, but the NHL rejected the proposal, citing they didn't want to lose one of the newer franchises that soon.
They were the first franchise to incorporate the use of names on the back of the player's jerseys.
Their successor, the Cleveland Barons would merge with the Minnesota North Stars for 13 seasons, before the inception of the San Jose Sharks.
The Sharks were technically demerged from the North Stars, but are considered a 1991 expansion franchise, rather then a continuation and are not entitled to the history or the records of the Golden Seals franchise.
