Why she might be annoying:

Her last name is one ‘f’ away from being a euphemism for one of the seven words you cannot say on television.
She delivered singing telegrams before beginning her opera training.
    She had a nose job.
She blew out her voice through overwork, and never completely recovered.
Her singing during a live radio broadcast of ‘Lucia di Lammermoor’ from the Met was so far off her usual standard that manager Rudolf Bing considered stopping the performance in mid-opera (1969).

Why she might not be annoying:

She was captain of the field hockey team in high school.
She won a Fulbright Scholarship to train in Italy.
Nicknamed ‘La Bellissima,’ she was described as ‘arguably the most beautiful face in modern opera.’
She once received a ten-minute standing ovation following the ‘mad scene’ in ‘Lucia di Lammermoor.’
She returned to the Met for its centennial celebration, performing a duet with Robert Merrill (1983).
