Despite being considered a building block for the Argonauts, the team relented and deemed him expendable, when they acquired James Franklin.
He played on three different CFL teams within a three year span.
He was forced to redshirt his initial freshman season at Nevada, in order for Colin Kaepernick to finish his college career.

He is the second player in NCAA history to record both 3,000 rushing yards and 9,000 passing yards.
He earned a Grey Cup ring as a member of the Argonauts (2017).
He landed the Roughriders starting quarterback position, following an injury to Zach Collaros in the season opening game (2019).
He played well enough as the season went on for the Riders to deem Collaros expendable.
His hustle and playmaking ability made him a fan favorite amongst the Roughrider fans.
