The Resume

    (January 9, 1984-February 24, 1986)
    Aired on NBC
Hosted by Dick Clark and Ed McMahon
Premise: Outtakes from TV shows and practical jokes played on celebrities

Why TV's Bloopers and Practical Jokes might be annoying:

The first season contained additional segments (man on the street interviews by David Letterman; showcases for standup comedians; video shorts presented by Wil Shriner; etc.) that were phased out by season two.
Many first season episodes started with a faux blooper of announcer Charlie O'Donnell introducing 'Ed Clark' and 'Dick McMahon.'
They pranked Stevie Wonder. (Did they bother with the hidden cameras for that one?)
An attempt to bring it back as a weekly series lasted only the summer replacement season (May 20-September 2, 1988).

Why TV's Bloopers and Practical Jokes might not be annoying:

It was preceded and followed by successful specials.
It got good ratings with low production costs.
It was blatantly copied by <12001>ABC<12001>'s 'Foul Ups, Bleeps, and Blunders.'
The opening credits and commercial bumpers featured animated bits by MAD magazine artist Sergio Aragones.
