    Acted in 'Call Me Madam (1953),' Ship of Fools (1965),' 'Charly (1968),' 'Deadly Hero (1976),' 'Eleanor and Franklin (1976),' 'Roseland (1977),' 'Heartland (1979),' 'Flashdance (1983),' and 'House of Games (1987)'

Why she might be annoying:

    She was a Christian Scientist.
    She wouldn't attend the 1964 Academy Awards unless United Artists agreed to pay her airfare (she was working for the New York Transit authority at the time).
    To modern audiences, she is only known as retired ballerina Hanna in Flashdance (or for her brief stint on Green Acres as Eva Gabor's mother).
    When she did the Joe Franklin Show in 1982, she snapped at the host when he asked if Austria was her native country: 'Vienna, Austria but I am an AMERICAN, Joe. Don't touch that!'

    She and her family fled the Nazis.
    She was originally an architect by trade.
    She was one of the first women to graduate in architecture and engineering from the University of Dresden.
    She was one of the first women architects in Austria and was the first female member of the Austrian Association of Engineers and Architects.
    She was nominated for an Academy Award for her performance in 'Lillies of the Field.'
    She was nominated for two Golden Globe Awards and a Primetime Emmy Award.
    She was left out of the Memoriam Tribute at 1995 Oscars despite being a former nominee.
    Her life was made into a popular one woman show.
