Why he might be annoying:

He was twice divorced.
He was nicknamed Ox.
He called himself the best rock bass player living (too bad your dead now, aye?).
He died of a heart attack brought on by cocaine use and a sex session with a Las Vegas prostitute.
Roger Daltrey said of his death: 'If John could have planned his death, he would have written it almost the way it happened. The only thing that would have been different would be that he'd want his body to be mummified and replace in the bed, the room filled with his beloved fish and his guitar.'
He died a day before the Who were set to take the stage to start their American summer tour.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was part of one of the greatest rock bands ever.
Even into his 50's he was an entertaining live musician.
He was in the movie Tommy, which also featured Roger, Keith Moon, Pete Townshend, Tina Turner, Elton John, Eric Clapton and Jack Nicholson.
In addition to the bass, he also played the French horn.
He was elected into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990.
With his death, he left behind his only child, Christopher.
He died in the Hard Rock Hotel, weeks before the Howard Stern Show invaded it.
