U.S. Senator

The Resume

    (October 5, 1943- )
    Born in Baltimore, Maryland
Member of the Maryland House of Delegates (1967-87)
Speaker of the House of Delegates (1979-87)
    Congressional Representative from Maryland's 3rd District (1987-2007)
US Senator from Maryland (assumed office January 3, 2007)
    Democrat

Why he might be annoying:

When he was elected to the House of Delegates, he took over the seat previously held by his uncle Maurice, who had decided not to run for reelection in order to open a seat for his nephew.
In a ranking by the National Journal, he tied for fifth most liberal Senator (2013).
He authored legislation to criminalize participating in a boycott of Israel.
He voted against the Obama administration's nuclear arms deal with Iran (2015). Three years later, he condemned the Trump administration's decision to withdraw from the deal, even though Trump's criticisms of the deal were almost exactly the same as the ones Cardin had made in 2015.

Why he might not be annoying:

He has been married to Myrna Edelman, his high school sweetheart, for over fifty years.
He graduated from law school first in his class.
He wrote the bill to expand Medicare coverage to include preventative measures such as mammograms and screening for osteoporosis and prostate and colorectal cancers.
He was honored by 'Worth' magazine for protecting retirement plans.
