Why Spearfish, South Dakota might be annoying:

It was actually named Queen City, before being renamed to Spearfish.
Despite being a large city in the Black Hills, it is overshadowed by neighboring Deadwood.
Its economy primarily relies on both mining and tourism.
Due to the unusual nature of Spearfish Creek, which freezes from the bottom upwards, the north side of the city is prone to flooding.
It has an unstable climate, due to its location at the base of the Black Hills region.
It experienced a significant temperature change as a result of a Chinook, which went from being warm to significantly cold in a matter of hours (January 22, 1943).

Why Spearfish, South Dakota might not be annoying:

It was the hub center for the Black Hills Gold Rush in 1876.
It was a hub center for food supply to the mining camps in the Black Hills.
Black Hills State University is located here.
It is considered one of the major stopping points on the way to Mount Rushmore.
Frank Lloyd Wright called the area unique and unparalleled when he visited the region for the first time.
