Why he might be annoying:

    During his Senate campaign, he accused his opponent of supporting policies that 'put Beijing ahead of Bloomington' while running a company that distributed goods made in China.
    He supported Donald Trump's baseless allegations of massive voter fraud in the 2020 Presidential election and declared is intent of refusing to certify the Electoral College results.
    He called on TV ratings to add a category warning viewers if programs contain LGBTQ characters or content (2022).
    In an interview, he said the Supreme Court had been wrong when it ruled that state bans on interracial marriages were unconstitutional (2022).

Why he might not be annoying:

    He steered his family's faltering business from manufacturing truck bodies to supplying truck accessories; under his direction, the company grew from 15 employees to over 300.
    After a pro-Trump mob stormed the Capitol (January 6, 2021), he decided not to object to certifying the election results in order to 'get this ugly day behind us.'
    He has called for the Republican Party to take global warming seriously, and supports cap and trade policies to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
