Why they might be annoying:

After a year of Dez providing vocals, he decided that he would feel more comfortable playing rhythm guitar behind Greg.
Henry Rollins was hired as vocalist after jumping on stage with them and singing during a performance.
Unicorn Records refused to release their first full-length album because they saw it as being 'too dangerous and vulgar.'
They were sued by Unicorn for releasing the album on their own, which ended up preventing the band from using their name or logo for over 2 years. Unicorn ended up dropping all charges when they went bankrupt.
Greg broke up the band in 1986 so he could pursue a solo career which, of course, went nowhere.

Why they might not be annoying:

They were considered as being the definitive Los Angeles hardcore punk band.
Greg and Chuck formed their own record label, SST, which they would use to release their first EP.
The Circle Jerks were formed by Brian after he left the band.
After Unicorn refused to release 'Damaged,' Greg went ahead and released it on SST.
During their lawsuit, they decided to release 'Everything Went Black' on their own.
They released three albums in 1985.
They were seen as being one of the hardest touring bands at their prime.
SST records ended up being the home of the Meat Puppets, Sonic Youth, Soundgarden, the Screaming Trees and Husker Du for a few years.
