Actress

The Resume

    (December 13, 1924- )
    Born in Berlin, Germany
    Middle name is Elisabeth
    Daughter of Marlene Dietrich
Appeared in over 500 live teleplays for CBS
Acted in 'Garden of Allah,' 'Scarlet Empress,' 'The King Steps Out,' and 'Scrooged'

Why she might be annoying:

She joked: 'As a child I thought my name was Maria The-Daughter-Of'.'
Most of her early film work was in movies starring her mother.
She broke her engagement of several months to actor Richard Hayden in 1943 (just as well - he was nearly 20 years her senior!).
She never reached her full potential as a star, with most of her output limited to television (and, at that, live appearances - which went unrecorded).
Her biography on her mother was published the same year she died.

Why she might not be annoying:

She was raped by a nanny as a child.
Growing up, she was friends with Gene Tierney and Rosemary Kennedy.
She received Emmy nominations for Best Actress in both 1952 and 1953.
She was named one of 'Television's Best of 1952' by Motion Picture Daily alongside Sid Caesar and Lucille Ball.
She retired from acting in 1962 to devote more time to her family.
She participated in telethons to benefit United Cerebral Palsy during the 1950s.
She made a brief return to the screen in 1988 as Robert Mitchum's wife in 'Scrooged' with Bill Murray.
Her biography of her mother was a loving and respectful tribute and not a Mommie Dearest knockoff tell-all.
