    His professional career was entirely spent in the minor leagues.
    His contributions to hockey went unnoticed to mainstream pundits.

    Despite being a legend in the MIchigan hockey program, he opted to take the coaching job at the rival MIchigan Tech hockey program.
    Despite his accolades, he has yet to be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame as of 2020.

    He guided the school to three NCAA National championships between 1962 and 1975.
    He was forced to resign from his position due to his health failing.
    The NCAA named their Coach of the Year Award in his honor.
    He was credited with starting the modern tiered bantam hockey system.
