Why he might be annoying:

He portrayed the son-in-law in one of the two pilots filmed for All in the Family but was replaced by Rob Reiner in the series.
He provided voice overs for hundreds of commercials, most notably a series for Honda.
He weighed 300 pounds at his peak and was described by a reviewer as ‘built like a Mack truck.’
He abused drugs and alcohol, which contributed to his death from heart failure at a relatively young age.

Why he might not be annoying:

He composed the scores for the films ‘Jeremiah Johnson’ (1972), ‘A Boy and His Dog’ (1975), and ‘The Killer Inside Me’ (1976).
He narrated many movie trailers, including those for ‘Superman’ (1978) and the original ‘Star War’ trilogy.
A critic wrote that whenever he had a part with any substance, ‘He dominated the screen with De Niroesque intensity.’
