    (October 27, 1957- )
Born in Hayes, Middlesex, England, United Kingdom
Midfielder for Tottenham Hotspur (1975-87) and Monaco (1987-91)
Player/manager for Swindon Town (1991-93) and Chelsea (1993-95)
    Played internationally for England (1979-88)
Managed the England national team (1996-99), Southhampton (2000-01), Tottenham Hotspur (2001-03), and Wolverhampton Warrior (2004-06)
Commentator for ITV and BT Sport
With Tottenham Hotspurs teammate Chris Waddle, recorded the single 'Diamond Lights' (1987)
Finished ninth in the second season of the British version of The Masked Singer (2021)

Why he might be annoying:

His and Waddle's performance of 'Diamond Lights' on Top of the Pops has been called one of the most embarrassing moments in British pop music. (UK Metro: 'Truly awful dad dancing and shocking lyrics.')
A former player said of his management style, 'If Chelsea won, it was because of his decisions, and if we lost, it was our fault, never his.'
As manager for England, he hired a faith healer, Eileen Drewery, as part of the coaching staff.
He reportedly refused to include on the England squad several players who mocked Drewery's alleged abilities.
He was fired as England manager after an interview with Matt Dickinson in which he implied that people with disabilities were being punished for their sins from a previous life: 'You and I have been physically given two hands and two legs and half-decent brains. Some people have not been born like that for a reason. The karma is working from another lifetime.... What you sow, you have to reap.'

Why he might not be annoying:

When he was player-manager for Swindon, the team was so poor he had to loan it £200,000 to acquire a defender.
He claimed his remarks to Matt Dickinson had been 'misconstrued, misunderstood, and misinterpreted,' and pointed out that he had raised funds for several charities benefitting people with disabilities.
He suffered a heart attack in the studio on his 61st birthday and had his life saved by a BT Sports employee who knew how to use a defibrillator.
When he was inducted into the English Football Hall of Fame (2007),, he was called one of the most gifted and creative players of his era, exhibiting 'sublime balance and close control, unrivalled passing and vision and extraordinary shooting ability, both from open play and set pieces.'
