Why he might be annoying:

He almost quit basketball after the Celtics drafted him, since he thought he wouldn't get playing time.
When a school that offered him a teaching position didn't honor his pay increase request, he went back to basketball.
Due to the immense talent of the 1960's Celtics teams, some of his NBA rings may have been from luck.
He shares his name with the guy who portrayed 'Flash Gordon.'

He served in the Army for two years.
He played for ten championship teams with the Celtics. Only Bill Russell (11) has more rings.
He played for the Celtics his entire career.
He was known for his quickness, clutch play and deadly bank shot.
Red Auerbach thanked him for making him 'a helluva coach.'
He is a member of the NBA's 25th and 50th Anniversary teams.
