The Resume

    (December 2, 1948- )
    Born in Los Angeles, California
Portrayed Pearl Harper in 'Night of the Hunter' (1955)

Why she might be annoying:

Her singing of ‘The Pretty Fly’ in ‘Night of the Hunter’ was dubbed by another actress.
After a long series of retakes (caused in large part by her tendency to look at Robert Mitchum before he actually delivered the line she was supposed to be reacting to), she complained, ‘This is a hard way to make this movie.’
Director Charles Laughton called her ‘a repulsive, little insensitive pie-faced teacher’s pet.’

Why she might not be annoying:

Her mother was a singer in Spade Cooley’s Western swing band.
David Grubbs, the author of the novel ‘Night of the Hunter,’ said of her acting, ‘I think the girl was extremely talented, every bit as talented as the boy.’
As an adult, she became a grade school teacher and faculty advisor in Santa Monica, California.
