Sports Executive

The Resume

    (December 28, 1972- )
    Born in Seattle, Washington
    Former executive at Nike (2002-21)
General manager for the Dallas Mavericks

Why he might be annoying:

His college athletic career was derailed by injuries.
He bungled his presentation to land a Nike endorsement deal with Steph Curry.
It was bad enough for Curry to accept a deal from Under Armor instead.
His ascension to the NBA general manager ranks drew fire from basketball pundits, as he had no experience working in a front office.
Both he and Jason Kidd landed the Mavericks head coaching and general manager positions solely based on their friendship with team owner Mark Cuban.
He made a multi-player trade to acquire Kyrie Irving from the Brooklyn Nets, which did more harm than good for the Mavericks.
He made the trade when the Mavs were holding down the 4th spot in the West, and failed to make the playoffs altogether in the weeks following.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was a multi-sport athlete growing up, before deciding to exclusively pursue basketball altogether.
He initially attended West Point, before transferring to Montana State University, where he earned degrees in biological and medical sciences.
He worked as a pharmaceutical sales representative, before landing his position at Nike.
He was praised for his interpersonal skills and marketing abilities during his tenure with Nike.
He was the first African-American general manager in the history of the Mavericks franchise.
He was the second high-profile Nike executive, after Marc Eversley, to be appointed general manager of an NBA franchise.
