    He was originally cast as one of Paul Newman's sons in 'Rally 'Round the Flag, Boys' (1958), but he was let go when he had to get glasses for his astigmatism.
    He had a sibling rivalry with his brother Stanley until they were both cast in 'My Three Sons.'
    He abused cocaine during a low point in his career in his 20s.
    He noted that using 'I was Ernie Douglas' as a pickup line usually resulted in the girl laughing in his face. ('I abandoned that strategy pretty quickly.')
