Photographer

The Resume

    (August 16, 1934-October 2, 2022)
    Born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Staff photographer for Life and Look magazine
Best known for photographing Marilyn Monroe
Worked as a special photographer on more than 150 films
Published the photo collection books 'Titanic' (1998) and 'A Life in Pictures' (2013)

Why he might be annoying:

    He was divorced.
    His middle name was Morley.
Natalie Wood talked him into taking photos of her topless when she was trying to reignite her career in the seventies.
He did an awkward interview with CBS Sunday Morning in which the hosts repeatedly asked him about whether or not he had flirted with Marilyn Monroe during their photoshoot, only to be rebuffed each time.
The documentary made on him, 'That Click' in 2020, received mixed reviews and generally just served as a mouthpiece for celebs like Paris Hilton.
His son Mark directs Simpsons episodes for a living.

Why he might not be annoying:

His first screen credit was working on The Judy Garland Show.
He took photos of Marilyn only weeks prior to her death which would become iconic images.
He was a special photographer on the sets of the films '2001: A Space Odyssey,' 'The Sound of Music,' and 'Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.'
One of his most famous film shots included John Travolta in the dance sequence from Saturday Night Fever.
His 'Titanic' photo book was the first of its kind to reach No. 1 on the New York Times Best Seller list in both hardcover and paperback.
He received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the American motion pictures Society of Operating Cameramen.
He was deemed a 'celebrity photographer' only and as such was not taken seriously by his contemporaries in the photography world (usually ignoring things like his 1982 photo shoot of New York's homeless population).
Baz Luhrmann, who worked with him on the set of Moulin Rouge, gushed about his work, saying: 'His pictures have this warmth and humanity, but they [also] have romance in them.'
