    Daughter of singer Rufus Thomas
    Recorded the singles 'Gee Whiz (Look at His Eyes)' (1961), 'I'll Bring It Home to You' (1962), 'Let Me Be Good to You' (1966), 'B-A-B-Y' (1966), 'Tramp' (with Otis Redding, 1967), 'Knock On Wood' (with Redding, 1967) and 'I Like What You're Doing To Me' (1969)
    Received a Pioneer Award from the Rhythm and Blues Foundation (1993)

Why she might be annoying:

    She was signed by Stax Records largely because her dad was a prominent Memphis DJ and R&B hitmaker.
    She recorded love duets with her dad.
    She lost her 'Queen of Soul' title when Aretha Franklin arrived.
    When Stax folded in 1975, she largely stopped recording.

Why she might not be annoying:

    'Gee Whiz' was the first pop hit for Stax in particular and Southern soul in general.
    She wrote 'Gee Whiz' when she was 16.
    She held her own with Otis Redding on the album 'King and Queen.'
