The Resume

    (December 25, 1943-February 23, 2024)
    Born in Sao Paulo, Brazil
    Wilson Fittipaldi Junior
    Formula One racing driver
Brother of 2-time Formula One World Champion Emerson Fittipaldi
Father of Formula One/ NASCARChristian Fittipaldi (b. 1971)
Made his F1 World Championship Grand Prix Debut with Brabham on May 1, 1972
Participated in 38 World Championship Grand Prix races overall; later ran the Fittipaldi Formula One team between 1974 and 1982

Why he might be annoying:

He was nicknamed 'Wilsonho' and 'Tigrao.'
He lives in his brother's shadow, despite having started professional racing earlier.
He only scored a total of three Championship points his entire F1 career.
He lost third place in the 1973 Monaco Grand Prix when his car failed to pick up fuel.
He returned to Formula One a year after quitting in 1974, this time as a team manager with his own Brazilian-built car, which also failed to gain traction.
He held onto hope that his son, Christian, would redeem his name in the racing sport, acting as his manager for at least a year. While by no means terrible, he didn't exactly make off with a World Championship title like his uncle.

Why he might not be annoying:

For what its worth, he was considerably better looking than his more famous brother.
He and his brother started a successful custom car accessory business when they were teenagers.
He nearly drowned when his hydrofoil, which he was racing at 70mph, tipped over (at this point he and his brother made the decision to pursue the sport of Karting).
Their auto dealer father refused to finance his and his brother's racing career. Between himself and Emerson, he was the one who secured funding from local businesses to make it happen.
He and his brother made history at the Argentine and German Grand Prix Championship races, as the first siblings to both compete against each other in the same race and score points, in 1973.
His 1972-1973 Grand Prix performances also made him the most successful sibling of an F1 racing driver until Ralf Schumacher's debut in 1997.
The scoring of his son's first point in the 1992 Japanese Grand Prix made him and Christian the first father-son team to both score points in Formula One.
He also shared a Porsche with his son in the Mil Milhas Race for the Brazilian Stock Car Championship, for which they won first place (1994).
He was a guest driver for Mercedes-Benz at the Nürburgring round of the FIA European Truck Racing Cup, finishing 8th and 11th (2000).
He and Emerson entered the Brazilian GT3 Championship together, in 2008, driving a Porsche 997 GT3 for the WB Motorsports team and performing solidly.
