Why she might be annoying:

Her second husband, George Catt, signed a prenuptial agreement that allowed her two months in spring and two months in fall to campaign for women's suffrage.
She alienated her fellow pacifists when she supported the Woodrow Wilson administration during World War I in order to get presidential support for women's voting rights.
She tried to convince Mississippi and South Carolina to ratify the 19th Amendment by declaring, 'White supremacy will be strengthened, not weakened, by women's suffrage.'

Why she might not be annoying:

After her father refused to send her to college, she became a teacher to earn her tuition money.
A year after graduating, she became a high school principal; two years after that, she became school superintendent for Mason City, Iowa.
She had to resign when she married her first husband, Leo Chapman.
She was credited with devising the successful strategy to ratify the 19th Amendment giving women the right to vote.
She also worked for child labor laws and refugee relief efforts.
The FBI monitored her for her anti-war activities.
