The Resume

    (October 12, 1923-April 29, 2015)
    Born in Brooklyn, New York
    Birth name was Jean Slutsky
Incorporated Weight Watchers (May 15, 1963)
Sold Weight Watchers to H.J. Heinz Company for $71.2 million (1978)

Why she might be annoying:

    She worked for the IRS.
She was divorced twice, with her second marriage, to a bass player she met on a cruise ship, lasting only a couple of months.
She was 'obsessed' with Mallomar cookies, which she would hide in a clothes hamper and binge on in the bathroom at night.

Why she might not be annoying:

After losing 20 pounds on a diet, she felt her resolve weakening and formed a support group with several overweight friends (1961).
She eventually lost 70 pounds and kept it off the rest of her life.
Weight Watchers takes a common-sense approach to dieting emphasizing gradual weight loss and maintenance instead of crash dieting.
She said, 'If you're going to lose weight, you have to do it by changing your way of thinking about food. It cannot be the highlight of your life.'
