Why he might be annoying:

He has a huge forehead.
He played on four teams in two years following his departure from the Bruins.
He was initially loathed in Boston, due to his role as being the main piece in the Joe Thornton trade.
He suffered multiple concussions and knee injuries during the course of his career.
His scoring touch had disappeared by the time he was in his final seasons.

He scored 20+ goals in seven of his first eight seasons.
He was a member of Team World at the 1999 NHL All-Star Game.
He was the highest scoring German-born player, prior to Leon Draisaitl.
He was a solid player, who excelled at playing in any situation seamlessly.
He was the head coach for the German men's ice hockey team that won its first medal in Olympic competition (Silver in 2018).
