Why he might be annoying:

He went from being the national finance chair for Mitt Romney's 2008 Presidential campaign to calling Romney 'indistinguishable from Barack Obama' during his 2020 Senate campaign.
His Senate campaign secured a $2.5 million loan from a bank whose board of directors he used to sit on.
During campaign events, he regularly ignored health guidelines by not wearing a mask while shaking hands or otherwise getting up close with the public.
He claimed the Biden administration's COVID relief payments were intended to 'lure' illegal immigrants, even though the only non-citizens allowed relief checks are those legally authorized to work in the US.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was an economic advisor and a White House Fellow during the administration of George H.W. Bush.
He headed the steering committee that brought a Major League Soccer franchise to Nashville (2017).
Real Clear Politics called him 'arguably the most effective of the [Trump] administration's diplomats,' having negotiated significant reductions in tariffs.
