Why she might be annoying:

There is confusion as to whether she was born Patricia Ruth Miller or Ruth Rae Miller.
She had a brief friendship with the future Joan Crawford — which included a racy joke.
Her first two marriages ended in divorce; she became a widow in 1986 (‘the most engaged girl in Hollywood’).
She appeared in a few dozen films within a ten-year span, but none for two decades after.
During her whole film career, she lived with her brother and her parents.

Why she might not be annoying:

She had only one child, during her second marriage.
Once her acting career wound down, she became a short story writer — winning three O. Henry awards in the process.
Her book about Tchaikovsky became a musical that ran for several months.
She recounted ‘the Hollywood of those far-off days’ (including the pre-television era) as much less Sodom and Gomorrah than remarkably sober.
Despite being a reserved introspective performer with a distaste for dirty language, The New Yorker lauded her for having a photographic and phonographic memory.
