Why he might be annoying:

    On 'Mike Schmidt Day,' he requested that past teammate Pete Rose, who was exiled from baseball, make an appearance. A video of Rose was shown on the big screen at Vet Stadium instead of a live appearance.
    He tried to hang on to his career a bit too long, hitting only six homers and batting a measly .203, forcing him to retire in the middle of the year.
    He really embarrassed himself when he cried uncontrollably while announcing his retirement. The speech started with 'I came from Dayton, Ohio with two bad knees ...'
    He went from hero of the 1980 World Series to zero in the 1983 World Series batting an anemic .050 (just 1 single for 20 at bats).
