Best known as Ward Cleaver on 'Leave it to Beaver'

He is uncredited in almost all of his movie roles.
His acting style is wooden.
He was a Methodist Church minister.
His acting career ended after Leave it to Beaver was cancelled.
He became a Christmas tree salesman.
He disliked portraying Ward Cleaver, because he knew it would typecast him as a father.
He was replaced by a tombstone in the 1983 'Still the Beaver.'
He looks out of place when not wearing a suit and tie.

He suffered a stroke (1972).
Ward Cleaver ranked #28 on TV Guide's '50 Greatest TV Dads' (2004).
He died of a heart attack while visiting his son in Munich, Germany (1982).
His portrayal of Ward is considered the role model for being a perfect father.
