The Resume

    (February 7, 1953- )
    Born in Mobile, Alabama
Drafted sixth overall by the Houston Oilers in the 1975 NFL Draft
Linebacker for the Houston Oilers (1975-84)

Why he might be annoying:

    He was nicknamed 'Dr. Doom.'
Despite being the first linebacker to make the 3-4 defense popular, he doesn't get the recognition for it, like Lawrence Taylor did.
He spent the later stages of his career on a losing Oilers team.
He recorded 11 career quarterback sacks, but the sack statistic didn't become official until his third last season in the NFL.
He routinely threatened to retire during the last few seasons of his career.

Why he might not be annoying:

He spent his entire playing career with the Oilers.
He was considered a jovial player, which was in contrast to his aggressive playing style.
He played in the Pro Bowl for seven consecutive seasons (1976-82).
He admitted his decision to retire was largely in part to the death of his first wife in an auto accident.
He ranks among the top five leaders in the history of the Oilers/Titans franchise in career tackles.
He received a second chance at life, after receiving quadruple bypass heart surgery (2004).
