TV Game Show Contestant

The Resume

    (1955- )
    Born in Rome, New York
All time quiz show champion after a two month winning streak on 'Tic Tac Dough' (1980)
Set several game show records at the time including highest winnings ($312,700), most consecutive games played (88), most consecutive appearances (46) and most games won (43)
    Former US Navy officer

Why he might be annoying:

He was the Ken Jennings of the 80's.
Most of his records were broken during the quiz show revival of the late 90's/early 2000's.
He competed against other game show champions on GSN's 'Grand Slam' and lost to John Carpenter in the first round.
His winnings included three sailboats, eight cars and sixteen vacations (which he never took).
    He was a pretty boy.
Many game show fans scoff at his success and argue that much of his winnings were earned by sheer luck.

Why he might not be annoying:

Due to his good looks, being in the navy, and his likable personality, he was a very popular contestant.
He was not bitter about his records being broken, saying 'I knew, sooner or later, they would fall. The money amounts kept getting bigger. I didn’t have any jealousy, though. I had my time and made the most of it. Besides, no matter how good you are, there’s always somebody who’s better.'
As of 2013, he still holds his record of consecutive games played (88).
He became friends with Ken Jennings after Jennings broke one of his records.
He had to put up with being around Wink Martindale for two months.
He breaks the stereotype of trivia buffs being out of shape nerds.
