Why he might be annoying:

He dropped out after less than a year from the Minneapolis School of Art, the Hogarth School of Art, and the Visual School of Art.
He was married and divorced three times.
    He was an obsessive workaholic.
'Mad' editor Al Feldstein said, 'He was a dour, humorless person. I found him difficult to talk to, almost impossible to criticize, and often depressed.'
He created the unauthorized and heavily bootlegged 'Disneyland Memorial Orgy,' featuring Disney characters indulging in drug use and sex acts.
Near the end of his life, he declared, 'If I had to do it all over again, I'd cut off my hand.'

Why he might not be annoying:

He served in the Merchant Marine during World War II.
Early in his career, he collaborated with future science-fiction writer Harry Harrison.
Stan Lee was such a fan that his blurbs in Marvel comics would hype the work of 'Wonderful Wally Wood' as an inker, a job that usually went uncredited.
He suffered a stroke that caused him to lose the vision in one eye (1978).
He was one of the inaugural inductees into the comic book industry's Jack Kirby Hall of Fame (1989).
