Why he might be annoying:

He is very religious.
He likes to golf.
His nickname is 'Doaner.'
He spent the bulk of the 1997-98 season in the minors.
He allegedly made a slur towards a French Canadian referee during a game against the Montreal Canadiens (2005).
Due to the slur, Canadian politicians criticized Hockey Canada's decision to have him on the Men's Olympic team.

He's the last Winnipeg Jet that remained with the Coyotes.
He is the Coyotes team captain.
His cousin-in-law is Canadian Olympic figure skater Catriona Le May Doan (Catriona is married to Shane's cousin Bart).
He scored the tie-breaking and game-winning goals in the 2004 World Cup of Hockey championship game.
He agreed to a long term deal to remain with the Coyotes during their rebuilding process.
Hockey pundits feel he is being a pawn by politicians, after they raised the issue again after he was appointed captain at the 2007 World Hockey Championships.
