The Resume

    (May 20, 2020- )
Sports entertainment game show aired on FOX networks
Three men and three women compete against professional 'Taggers' in several events based on the children's game 'Tag' for a chance to win $10,000
Hosted by JJ Watt, TJ Watt and Derek Watt

Why Ultimate Tag might be annoying:

It took the simple schoolyard game of 'Tag', and turned it into a blatant American Gladiators knockoff.
Like the Gladiators, the professional Taggers also go by pretentious nicknames and gimmicks ('Horse', 'Viking', 'The Geek', etc.)
On the show a 'tag' is not simply touching a competitor, but instead grabbing a flag from a flag football-style vest worn by competitors.
The 'Revenge Tag' round resembles a real-world 'Pac-Man' game (competitor is chased by a Tagger through a maze of dotted lights until they come to a 'power pellet'-esque button, which when pressed allows the competitor to turn the tables on the Tagger for 10 seconds, and tag them for bonus points during that time limit).
Some Taggers and competitors have suffered injuries during competition.
The episodes broadcast on television will often omit an event due to time constraints (although FOX posts clips that weren't televised on their YouTube channel).
The show spent a year on the shelf before being broadcast (it was taped in the Spring of 2019).
The Watt brothers (who are all football players) aren't exactly the most charismatic of TV hosts.
Pro Tagger Omar 'The Geek' Zaki looks like Andy Samberg with an afro hairstyle.

Why Ultimate Tag might not be annoying:

It isn't quite as campy as Wipeout (which was another similar summer-replacement sports-entertainment game show).
Most of the pro Taggers are also professional freerunners, parkour athletes and stunt performers.
Many of the pro Taggers are fun and entertaining to watch.
It was a unique addition to the Summer 2020 prime-time lineup as the production of many other shows had been put on hold at the time due to the COVID pandemic.
