Why he might be annoying:

He is the namesake of the term 'gerrymander' which means drawing up electoral districts with the aim of aiding the party in power.
His support of the redistricting bill caused him to lose the governorship of Massachusetts.
He died in office after only a year of serving as the Vice President.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence and the Articles of Confederation.
He stayed in France during the XYZ affair in an attempt to avoid war.
He was chosen as a Vice President despite his support of gerrymandering.
